Saturday, August 16, 2008 Paolo to host own show for the first time
NEVER in Paolo Contis's wildest dream had he ever thought of hosting his own television show.
But now that the opportunity comes, Paolo said he has no reason to reject the offer of GMA-7 to host "World Records," one of the three newest shows of GMA in "Bilib Ka Ba Nights" late night block.
This will be the first hosting job of Paolo who said he is excited and nervous in the new field.
"It's very different. I was quite shocked when they asked me to host. I understand if they give me a sitcom project because I have done that before but hosting is really hard than what I expected," he said, adding that he already started taping for some episodes of his show, which will up on television on August 19 replacing "Kung Ako Ikaw".
Paolo related that he will have to make a lot of adjustments in hosting "World Records" every Tuesdays.
He said during his first taping day, he was so tired familiarizing himself with the techniques of hosting like talking in front of the camera, which he finds awkward at first.
"You should know what you're saying, while at the same time do your best to entertain your audience," he said.
"Hosting is a tiring job. I am doing a lot of things that make me tired like laughing and doing my adlibs. It's really far different from acting," he added.
But then he said he would try to do his best to master the field of hosting by focusing on his work and just keep practicing.
"I am happy that GMA-7 had given me such show. I hope they would not be disappointed. I'm doing my best to entertain the audience," he said.
The other two shows in "Bilib Ka ba Nights" are "Ripley's Believe it or Not" during Mondays hosted by basketball heartthrob Chris Tiu, and "Masquerade" during Wednesdays hosted by comic duo Arial and Maverick.
The two shows will air on August 18 and 20, respectively. (JRDB/Sunnex)
