'Celebrity Duets 2' contenders bared

FROM the success of "Celebrity Duets's" first season, another eight celebrity amateur "singers" will again compete for the second season of the exciting singing show.

For its second season that will air this coming Saturday, the network revealed the six among the eight celebrity contenders who are officially competing for the said TV program.

The six contenders based in Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) report are: Joey Marquez (TV host-comedian) and sister Melanie Marquez (beauty queen), MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando (public servant), Carlene Aguilar (beauty queen), Cory Quirino (TV host and columnist), and JC Buendia (fashion designer).

The mechanics of the singing show will be the same. Eight celebrities who are inexperienced in singing will have different sets of duets with various guest singers to be invited in the show.

Same as the earlier season, Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid will remain as this season's host.

Reports said entertainment columnist Ricky Lo and Manny Pacquiao's wife Jinkee were supposed to complete the show's list of challengers but the two had backed-out.

During the first season, it was Tessa Prieto-Valdes who was named as the first ever champion of "Celebrity Duets" while the two runners-up were Dr. Hayden Kho and Jessica Rodriguez.

Other contenders during the previous season were Dr. Manny Calayan, Tim Yap, Wyngard Tracy, Frederick Peralta, and Anna Theresa Licaros. (JRDB/Sunnex)
