Maxene Magalona clarifies rumors on dad's condition

TV HOST-rapper Francis Magalona's eldest daughter Maxene Magalona dismissed rumors about her dad being bedridden and weak after he was recently diagnosed with leukemia.

The young actress clarified in Startalk last Saturday that the speculations about her father's condition are merely exaggerations and some are not true.

"Contrary to reports saying he is very weak already, bedridden, that's not true," Maxene said.

"At first, I was devastated and I kept crying. I'm still sad about it, I won't deny that. But I'm keeping it together because I have my work and I need to be strong for my family and my dad," she lamented.

"Actually, my very first visit to the hospital, my dad was at the ICU and he was okay. There's no problem and he is very, very strong and very happy. He's very strong right now and he is preparing for his treatment. His treatment will start very soon, so, he's excited about it and we're all excited about it. And reports that he's very weak already and his hairs are falling, they're not true. He is very much in shape," the young actress, who is very busy in shooting her new project in GMA, explained.

Maxene said they are only asking for support from friends and fans of her father because those are the things that will make their family stronger.

"Actually, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who went to the Medical City blood bank and donated blood and platelets," she happily said.

"When the news broke out, there were so many people who donated their blood, even the people we don't know. To the Eat Bulaga! family, thank you so much. They have helped us a lot. Thank you so much for being there and supporting my dad 100 percent," she added.

"Actually, he was crying tears of joy. He was happy to see that all the people were so supportive and they were staying strong for him. So we were really happy," she disclosed describing her father's reaction when his Eat Bulaga family expressed support to him last Thursday.

As a message to her father, Maxene has a brief message to say, "Papa, I love you very much and I know that you are a strong person. All people idolize you, that's why everyone's looking up to you. This is just a challenge that I know you can survive because you are a strong person. Don't forget that I'm here and all of us are here behind you and we're just going to stay here. I love you so much." (JRDB/Sunnex)
