Willie voluntarily pays P6.2M in tax

"WOWOWEE" host Willie Revillame has personally paid his taxes amounting to more than P6.2 million at the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) main office in Quezon City.

The TV host said paying his taxes regularly in a quarterly basis is proof that he abides by the law, adding that this is an act of returning all the blessings he has received.

"I need to do this quarterly. I am paying for three months (April, May, and June) of my taxes, which reached more than P6.2 million," Revillame said.

"I am paying them six million and it's not a small amount of money. I will do what is legal. If you are blessed, why cheat the government? As I observe the changes in our country right now I am contented with it. That's where our taxes go and in my opinion I am contented with it," he added.

Revillame said the reason why he wanted to pay his taxes personally is for him to know where his money goes and that seeing the development in the nation is enough reason for him to pay his taxes.

"Abide by the law, abide by what's true. I should talk to them personally and not assign this to other people. I told my accountant 'Let me pay for it personally so I would know where my taxes go'," he said.

Meanwhile, the comedian dismissed the issue that he is paying his taxes because of TV host Joey de Leon's tirade saying there are some who have big properties but don't pay taxes.

"No, it has nothing to with that. As a taxpayer, I want to know why I am paying this much and they explained it to me," he ended. (JRDB/Sunnex)
