Arroyo undergoes medical tests

AFTER suffering an upset stomach last week, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo Monday underwent some medical tests including a “stress test.”

Arroyo took the medical tests at the Asian Hospital in Muntinlupa City, hours before the installation of a three feet bronze bust of former senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. at the departure area of the recently-opened Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) Terminal 3 in Pasay City.

Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita denied knowledge that the President underwent the medical check-up claiming that he thought Arroyo came from Malacañang.

“I don’t know. I don’t know really,” he said, adding that as of Friday night Arroyo was already “ok.”

“We were together (last Friday night) having dinner with the Prime Minister of Kuwait,” he said.

Press Secretary Jesus Dureza said Arroyo suffered from bum stomach last Friday. A medical team from St. Luke’s Medical Center led by her physician Dr. Juliet Cervantes went to Malacañang to check on her.

On Saturday, she then attended a fiesta in Lubao in Pampanga Province and the 24th year anniversary and eucharistic mass of the El Shaddai from Saturday night to past midnight of Sunday.

Dureza announced Monday morning that Arroyo would come late at Naia-3 to lead the observance of Aquino’s 25th death anniversary. (JMR/Sunnex)
