Yasmien to lie low in showbiz

AT THE height of her fruitful career, young actress Yasmien Kurdi expressed willingness to lie low in showbiz in order to concentrate on her studies.

Unlike other young stars that prioritize career rather than studies, Yasmien is determined to finish her studies first and then return to the limelight again.

“I was studying when I entered showbiz. It just so happened that I really had to finish some important subjects in school so I have to turn down some projects in conflict with my schedule, which is M-W-F,” she explained.

She clarified that she is not quitting showbiz and she will still appear in some GMA-7 shows like “SOP” and “SIS.”

One of the shows Yasmien rejected was the upcoming superhero series “Gagambino” due to taping schedule conflicts.

According to her, she had already advised her fans about her decision and they are happy with it. She also vowed to be back for some big projects of GMA as soon as she finishes school.

“I am still young and I am doing this for my father. I assure my fans that I am not quitting showbiz and they can still see me in some shows in GMA,” she asserted.

Meanwhile, Yasmien’s decision saddened her on-screen partner JC de Vera. JC said it is a big loss if Yasmien will completely quit show business.

“I feel sad for her. I will miss her as I worked with her for a year and now I am being paired with Rhian (in “La Lola”) I will again have to make some adjustments,” he said.

JC opposed Yasmien’s decision to reject projects because he believes that opportunities only come once, thus one should make the “most out of it.” (JRDB/Sunnex)
