HEAVILY-armed robbers struck in Cainta, Rizal Wednesday afternoon, victimizing a bank’s armored van and carting away still undetermined amount of money.
Rizal Provincial Police Director Ireneo Dordas said the robbery took place in front of the New Plaza Complex at N. Felix Avenue in the town of Cainta at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The robbers, onboard two Toyota Revo Witj bearing license plates WFW-489 and WMJ-231, blocked and fired at the armored van. No one was however reported hurt.
Dordas said at gunpoint, the robbers took away the money from the van’s occupants, including a security guard.
Police said the armored van was about to deliver cash to a money changer firm beside a branch of the United Coconut Planters Bank at Q-Plaza when the robbers blocked them.
According to Dordas, his men conducted pursuit operations and found the robbers’ get-away vehicle at Dragon Street in Barangay San Roque, Marikina.
The policemen recovered a caliber .45 pistol and several pieces of military uniforms inside the van. (AH/Sunnex)
