Michael V covers for Reader's Digest

TV-HOST comedian Michael V was in seventh heaven after he was chosen to cover for the infamous magazine Reader's Digest in its September 2008 issue.

Michael V is the second Filipino to cover for Reader's Digest. The first was former President Corazon Aquino.

For the September cover, Michael V disguises as an old lady wearing barong tagalog and has a title "Yari Ka" - tagline of Michael V's show in GMA-7 dubbed "Bitoy's Funniest Videos".

"I still cannot believe (in this opportunity). When I received a letter from them (Reader's Digest), I thought they will just feature me and I haven't expected to be on the cover," explained the comedian.

"I was pressured when they told me to cover for the magazine and I was more pressured when I was informed that I am only the second Filipino to cover for it," he said.

When asked what might be the basis of Reader's Digest to choose him for its next month's cover, Michael V said: "Maybe they based it on Asian TV awards. I won three times in Asian TV awards as comedy actor, so I believe it's because of that."

Although he received several international recognitions, Michael V said he still could not level himself to the feat of other renowned comedians in Asia.

According to him, the magazine's feature on him is not about the humorous Michael V but the serious one. He said Reader's Digest focused on how he got his distinguished sense of humor.

"They asked me about the history of me being a person and not purely as a comedian and as a professional," he said.

With his string of achievements, Michael V could possibly enter the international acting scene but as per the comedian, he has yet to improve his skills locally and he primarily wants to cater her skills to the Filipino people.

"I hope so. I cannot say until an offer is made. Let's not jump (into conclusions). I will try but my service to my fellow Filipinos will be the first and foremost," he ended. (JRDB/Sunnex)
