Wednesday, August 27, 2008 Cebu Pacific offers another promo
GOKONGWEI-owned Cebu Pacific is giving its customers another promo package by offering P200 fare discount if they will not check in their bags and reduce its free baggage allowance (FBA) for all bookings made starting September 2, 2008.
Candice Iyog, vice president for marketing and product of Cebu Pacific, explained that the new offering is in line with the airline’s effort to reduce its fuel cost which affected them especially during the previous months when the prices of oil products in the international market reach as high as US$141 per barrel.
“A lighter aircraft would burn less fuel so if passengers travel light, our fuel costs would likewise go down; and we are able to pass on the savings to our passengers,” Iyog said.
She noted that Cebu Pacific will lower its FBA from 20 kilograms (kgs) to 15kgs per passenger, except for the Boracay (Caticlan) flights which will still be at 10kgs.
On the other hand, the airline will honor the 20kgs FBA made before the September 2 bookings.
The maximum weight allowed for hand-carried luggage remains at 7kgs per passenger, except for Boracay (Caticlan) which is maintained at 5kgs per passenger.
“We are always looking for ways to reduce the fare paid by our passengers and since we are able to save on fuel when carrying less weight on our flights, we want to reward people who don’t have check-in bags,” added Iyog.
This “Go Lite” discount will apply to all Cebu Pacific’s fares and will be available for both domestic and international bookings.
Aside from introducing the Go Lite fares, the airline will be offering a 20-percent discount for pre-payment of excess baggage through its website, call center, and ticket offices. This will be offered in increments of 5kgs.
Now on its 13th year, Cebu Pacific has the youngest aircraft fleet in the Philippines comprised of 10 A319s, eight A320s, and two ATR72-500 aircraft. (MSN/Sunnex)
