Military priests to offer mass for plane crash victims

MILITARY chaplains all over the country will be offering a special mass for the victims of the C-130 plane that crashed off Davao Gulf Monday night.

According to Bishop Leopoldo Tumulak, military ordinariate of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP), the mass will be offered for all the victims who perished in the plane crash.

"Officially after the retrieval, I will be asking all the chaplains to say mass for them. And even the imam and the pastors, I will request them also," he said.

On board the ill-fated aircraft are nine crewmembers led by pilot Captain Adrian de Dios and co-pilot Major Manuel Zambrano.

Tumulak hoped that all the bodies would be recovered so that they will be given proper burial and military honors.

"Let's hope that they will be able to retrieve all the body parts of the victims as much as possible," he said.

The military ordinariate has authority over 98 chaplains all over the archipelago, including those at the headquarters of the Philippine Army, Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard. (FP/Sunnex)
