Angelika won't copy Dawn's acting in 'Una Kang Naging Akin'

SEASONED actress Angelika dela Cruz looked unflustered whenever asked if she is pressured reprising the role of award-winning actress Dawn Zulueta in GMA-7's TV remake of "Una Kang Naging Akin."

Although Angelika knew that Dawn's original performance raked over a Best Supporting Actress award from Famas, she remains unfazed and humbly saying her intentions not to imitate Dawn's outstanding performance but to act using her own approach.

"I will watch the original movie to further understand the movie and the character that I am portraying but not because I want to imitate Ms. Dawn's acting style," she said.

"I never thought of copying what Ms. Dawn had done because I know that I cannot surpass her acting skills. So, I chose to stick and believe in my own style," she explained.

Angelika is not new in portraying mature and challenging roles but according to her, this will be the first time she encounters a miscarriage scene that is why she considers it as a challenge.

"Well the biggest challenge I will be doing for this role is the miscarriage incident. I cannot imagine myself doing that scene and I don't know the feeling of having miscarriage so I am quite lost. How will I act it if I don't know how it feels to be in that situation," she said.

In the TV remake, Angelika portrays the role of Vanessa, a socialite young woman who first owns the heart of Nick Soriano (Wendell Ramos), a prominent business icon who will meet a terrible tragedy that will alter his whole life.

This is Angelika's second time to work with unparalleled director Joel Lamangan. First was in "Babangon Ako at Dudurugin Kita."

She said it is always a pleasure for her to work with Direk Joel and she is grateful to be part of another top-rated afternoon series of GMA-7.

Angelika is also part of first Argentine remake of GMA dubbed "La Lola" starring Rhian Ramos and JC de Vera.

"I'm starting 'La Lola' and we will start shooting I think on the second week of September," she said. Angelika, meanwhile, said that she is not yet completely informed about her role.

"There are news that I am part of the love triangle of JC and Rhian but hearing such are funny and strange to me. I was with JC last time and I told him 'If that plan should pursue do you think I am quite old to be part of your love triangle," the 27-year-old actress quipped. (JRDB/Sunnex)
