Monday, September 22, 2008 Jay-R plays 'playboy executive' in La Lola By Jill Beltran
ASIDE from serenading the country with his soulful voice every Sundays on SOP, R&B Prince Jay-R will join the cast of GMA-7's local adaptation of Argentine soap "La Lola."
Jay-R shared that he will play an executive named Pato. "I am an executive in the company of Lalo (JC de Vera). We work in the same company and I am like doing a playboy executive role," he said.
Although this is not the first time for Jay-R to act on TV, he said he is still having a hard time especially alongside seasoned thespians.
"I am honored actually because we have these top-caliber artists like Eddie Garcia, JC, Rhian Ramos, Marvin Agustin, and you know we have scenes together that are sometimes hard to do because they are all good," he said. "You know my first thing is singing with them, they are really good with what they do."
As his way of catching up, the hunky crooner said he is now taking a lot of workshops. "I am taking drama workshops, anger workshops, comedy workshops and a lot of different areas in acting to enhance my acting skills."
Movie lineups
The on and off love affair of Jay-R and Ruffa Gutierrez will be seen once again on the big screen in the sequel of Regal Films movie "Desperadas."
"I am not really sure if we will continue our petty quarrels in this second part because the scripts are not fully done yet. But most probably it will still going to be around (our) relationship," he said.
Jay-R also said he is preparing a movie with international pop icon Billy Crawford. "I am doing a dance movie with Billy and I am also doing a soundtrack album for it."
He said he and Billy will start shooting next week and he will be making three videos for the movie.
Jay-R exclaimed he has to finish his two movies before December. He is also slated to have a series of shows and album tours here and abroad.
