Tuesday, September 30, 2008 German nabbed for 'swindling'
THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Monday announced the arrest of a German national wanted for allegedly swindling hundreds of investors through computer fraud.
Immigration Commissioner Marcelino Libanan said his men arrested Peter Uwe Muller in his house at Sandico Street, Diamond Subdivision in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City, Pampanga last Friday.
Muller is now detained at the Bicutan Immigration Jail.
According to Libanan, the fugitive will be kicked out of the country as soon as the BI board of commissioners issues the order for his summary deportation.
He added that Muller's passport was cancelled by the German government on September 12, making him an undocumented and illegally staying alien in the Philippines.
The BI issued the mission order for Muller's arrest upon the request of the German Embassy in Manila, which sought the BI's help in locating and deporting the fugitive.
Muller is wanted to stand trial before a local court in Dresden, Germany where he had been criminally charged with computer fraud for allegedly cheating thousands of German and European investors via fraudulent Internet trading transactions for five years or from 2001 to 2006.
BI records showed that Muller last arrived in the country on January 7 this year, and was admitted as a Balikbayan by reason of his marriage to a Filipino woman. (FP/Sunnex)
