Thursday, October 09, 2008 Jayann wants to sing with Rachel Ann Go By Jill Beltran
DID you know that Pinoy Idol grand finalist Jayann Bautista and Rachel Ann Go were contenders in the defunct reality singing show "Search for a Star?" Truly they were; and surprisingly they are best friends too.
Jayann, known as the "Versatile Princess" in "Pinoy Idol," revealed that she was trounced by her best friend Rachel in the second season of the outdated singing search where Sarah Geronimo also won.
"Naging semi-finalist ako then siya (Rachel) yung nag-champion," Jayann shared.
Nevertheless, now that Jayann is gradually penetrating the entertainment industry securing second spot in "Pinoy Idol," she said she is hoping for a chance to sing with her best friend.
Jayann said aside from Rachel, she also wants to collaborate with Pinoy Idol judge Ogie Alcasid and his girlfriend Regine Velasquez.
"They are my idols and having a duet song with them would be a great honor for me. That's my greatest dream," the young, enthusiastic singer said.
As for future plans of GMA-7 for her career, Jayann said she and other Pinoy Idol finalists will be signing for the network after their Fremantle contract expires.
She is expecting more shows and projects to come, as she is formally included as an artist of GMA-7.
What Jayann is sure of right now is her upcoming solo album. She said she is currently preparing for it and hopes for her original compositions to be included in her album. "I have finished seven songs right now and I hope they take them in," she wished.
She said as a versatile princess, she will try to sing every genre of music and compile it in one album. "I want to have an album with different genres of music."
If materialized, this will be the third album of Jayann. She said she was a former recording artist of Viva. She signed with Viva Records along with Rachel.
"After four years I joined Pinoy Idol because I had an album with Viva before, I had two actually," she said.
Landing second place in Pinoy Idol is such a great privilege for Jayann. Although there is disappointment, she assured that she will strive hard to prove that she has a space in the singing scene.
"I want to be established as a singer, that's the very reason why I joined Pinoy Idol because I want to be a singer. I want to be known, and that's what I will try to achieve," she said.
Despite not winning the elusive Idol title, Jayann swore that she will continue her musical journey for her fellow Kapampangan and most especially for her mother, who is her inspiration.
As a message for her supporters, she said: "Thank you for all your support and I will never stop singing and I will make you proud. Sama-sama tayo sa tagumpay!"
