Thursday, October 16, 2008 PNPA team wins PMA shootfest
THE Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) shooting team unleashed an exceptional performance after winning all the cadet categories in the recent 11th PMA Superintendent's Cup at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) firing range in Fort Del Pilar, Baguio City.
Unequaled shooting skills of the PNPA cadets delivered multiple victories as they bagged the most coveted awards in various categories over the three-day shootfest to end a long title drought.
The PNPA shooters were declared as the over-all champion.
Police Senior Inspector Walter Andal Pasicolan, officer-in-charge of the PNPA shooting team, led to exuberance after the PNPA cadets conquered the PMA firing range that paid off the very exhausted period of training and preparation at PNPA to hone the shooting skills of his team.
With the win, PNPA Cadet First Class Carmelo Velasco thus became the winningnest participant in the competition as he grabbed the top spot of the Cadet Category Standard; while PNPA Cadet First Class Mark Sylvester Tan, who was also declared as the champion in the Junior Category Standard, as the first runner-up.
The Cadet Category Production was also won by PNPA Cadet First Class Fernando Fernandez Jr. His classmate, PNPA Cadet First Class Jurex Urbano, also yielded the second place.
For the cadet female division, PNPA Cadet Nira Brito Perocho churned out impressive performances which completely brought about a grand slam victory for the PNPA shooting team. She stunned other competitors and made it to the top slot in the Cadet Lady Category Production.
Prior to the event, PNPA director Chief Superintendent Danilo Abarzosa enjoined the PNPA shooting team to do not only their best but also to establish good relationship, camaraderie, esprit de corps, and sportsmanship among cadet participants.
And while the overwhelming celebrations are set, Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) president Margarita Cojuangco extended her warmest congratulations to the PNPA shooting team for the honor and prestige they given to the academy.
