John says impersonation has Kris's blessing

TV HOST-comedian John Lapus will perform alongside Jon Santos and Candy Pangilinan in a month-long comedy show dubbed "Da Spooftacular Showdown."

John will again impersonate his friend Kris Aquino as Kris Anino, this time with a new set of wacky jokes and skits in store for the audience.

According to John, he has impersonated Kris for a few years now. Knowing Kris as an outspoken person, he said his impersonation has blessing from the female TV host.

"Nung first few years na impersonate ko siya, damit niya talaga at accessories niya ung sinusuot ko. Kasi ayaw niya na panget ako. Gusto niya glamorous din ako katulad niya. Ngayon nga problema ko pa yung hair niya kasi nagpa-red na naman siya ng hair so hahanap pa ako ng wig na pula," he said.

John disclosed that the gown that he will be using for the show is one of Kris's gown in "Deal or No Deal." "Sobrang supportive siya sa akin pagdating sa ganyan. Natutuwa din naman ako na may kaibigan ako na katulad niya laging nandiyan para sa akin. Actually yung mga accessories lang niya na tunay ang hindi niya pinapahiram sa akin!" he quipped.

Laugh till you drop

What "Da Spooftacular Showdown" promises for its audience is a bunch of laughter with its new witty punch lines, comical production numbers, and absolutely spooftacular comedy skits.

"This will be a showdown not just of characters na ini-ispoof namin ni Jon and Candy but this is a showdown of talents. So at the end of the day, yung audience ang magwawagi kumbaga showdown ito hindi yung away na showdown kundi showcase of our talents. So masaya," John said.

Under the direction of Philip Lazaro and scripting by Kim Idol, Ador Cuntapay, and Joel Mercado, this live comedy event will run every Fridays and Saturdays of November and December 5 and 6.

Drown in laughter and laugh until you drop as "Da Spooftacular Showdown" comes you're way starting this Friday at the Music Museum. (JRDB/Sunnex)
