"Sobrang saya ko. I never expect this kind of taping. Now I am aware of how a teleserye taping goes and so far I am really enjoying it," she said.
The singer-turned actress said that although she is new in acting, it became easier for her to cope with the help of her co-stars.
"This is my first time working with the cast of Betty La Fea and then I can say that I am really enjoying working with them. I appreciate the bonding, the friendship that we have now ever since I met them from the workshop. Like Ruffa Gutierrez, I really like working with her and Bea (Alonzo) herself," she shared.
Sheryn plays the role of one of the secretaries in Eco Moda (company managed by Armando Solis played by John Lloyd Cruz). She described her role as "assertive" who is always ready to defend Betty. "Kontrabida sa mga kontrabida. Ina-away ko ang mga uma-away kay Betty."
"Sobrang prangka at mapanglait ako dito," the actress said, which she refutes as her trait in real life.
This is not the first acting job of Sheryn as she also had a short stint in ABS-CBN's Sunday series "Love Spell." But for her, "Betty La Fea" really gave her a chance and a longer stretch where she can practice and show her acting skills.
"First time ko mag-teleserye. I am thankful that it's not that tough kasi yung shooting sa ABS lang din. Masaya ako dahil at least kahit papaano I get to explore different side of entertainment," she beamed.
Although she is obviously in awe with her new job, she clarifies that she will definitely not abandon singing. "Well I love them both now. But I really have to prioritize singing because it's my first love and my forte."
No to another baby yet
Aside from singing and acting, Sheryn also juggles her time to attend to her five-year-old daughter.
On plans to have another child, she said: "Hindi na gusto ko lang isa. Para maalagaan ko ng sobra sobra. Babies are blessings pero masakit eh. Pero ayoko din sanang magsalita ng tapos pero hindi muna ngayon."
Sheryn is a hands-on mother. She tutors her daughter after school and prepares for her everyday needs.
Although her daughter was raised by her mother, she is proud to say that her child is still a mama's girl. "She is so excited to see me after work. Ang saya kasi she's so daldal na din. Dati she actually called me as her sister. She said 'sisters forever' kasi nga ang liit ko. Pero napaliwanag naman ng mama ko sa kanya lahat."
Proud Cebuana
She meanwhile did not forget to thank the people behind her success - her fellow Cebuanos. "
“Sa tanang Cebuano, salamat sa lahat ng suporta. And I can say na without you I will never be Sheryn Regis today. Sheryn Regis na kumakanta pa rin. But then I have to say na I will still entertain everyone forever hanggang sa pumuti na ang buhok ko," she said.
Sheryn is also currently busy with shows here and abroad in line with the promotion of her latest album titled "Sheryn Regis: Starting Over Again." Sheryn will be in Australia on November 28 and has a concert tour in Europe in May next year. (JRDB/Sunnex)
