According to Iligan Bishop Elenito Galido, the church law defines schism as the withdrawal of submission to the Pope or from communion of the church as stated on the Canon Law number 751.
Thus, Galido said, Juson is now forbidden to celebrate the sacraments and to conduct celebrations in churches, which are in communion with the Roman Catholic Apostolic Church.
On the other hand, Ozamiz chancellor Fr. Maximino Naron warned the public and clergy against the recruitment being conducted by the excommunicated priest to join their group.
He admitted that he was being recruited by Juson, who introduced himself as the Mitered Archpriest and Vicar Forane of the Missionary Congregation of St. Chares of Brazil of Mindanao to join their group but he rejected the invitation.
Juson was ordained in 1984 and served the diocese until 2000.
Likewise, he cautioned the faithful to be extra careful in dealing with members of this schismatic congregation and not to be deceived into believing that their group is in communion with the Catholic Church. (FP/Sunnex)
