Friday, November 14, 2008 Yul Servo bags 2 awards in Brussels filmfest
TALENTED actor Yul Servo reaped two Best Actor awards at the recently-conducted 35th Brussels International Independent Film Festival.
Yul was honored from his exceptional performances in Viva films "Torotot" directed by Maryo J. delos Reyes and Cinemalaya's entry "Brutus," which was also named as Best Asian Film, under the direction of Tara Illenberger.
This is not the first time Yul won an award from Brussels. He received same outstanding recognition for his incomparable acting in "Batang Westside" by Lav Diaz and another de los Reyes's obra "Naglalayag."
Reports said, Servo "cried like a child" when he accepted his trophy and delivered his speech during the ceremony.
Several brilliant local thespians like Nora Aunor, Vilma Santos, Gina Pareño, Cesar Montano, and Albert Martinez were also given best performance recognitions by Brussels before.
Yul is part of GMA-7's comedy series "Lalola." Aside from acting, he is also working as one of the respected councilors in Manila. (JRDB/Sunnex)
