'Soco' gives 3 times suspense on its 3rd year

GET to see more than blood stains, fingerprints, and DNA on "Soco" (Scene of the Crime Operatives) because on its third year anniversary celebration, the team will not just examine the crime scene but also recreate it for a thrilling docu-drama experience.

Led by veteran broadcast journalist Gus Abelgas, "Soco" will spice things up by giving the public the chance to witness the turn of events as they happen, with extensive dramatizations and movie-like effects and story-telling.

This Thursday the program takes viewers back to August 28, 2008 when a tragic shootout ensued between an armed syndicate and the Mandaluyong and Makati police.

Gus takes audience in the middle of the shootout to understand the psyche of a criminal on the run, an officer risking his life for his job, and the ordeal of innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.

The story begins with operatives of "Oplan Banco" spotting a suspected vehicle with heavy tint, roaming around the vicinity of UCPB Bank in Makati. PO3 Balang and partner walk to the vehicle, but its occupants readily open fire at them.

Action heightens with the culprits escaping but a dragnet operation will eventually lead to the recovery of the getaway vehicle, a collection of high-powered weapons and the dead body of one of the gangsters.

"Soco" is ABS-CBN's late night magazine show featuring the most controversial and bizarre crime stories, exhausting all angles to see through the real story and the real suspect behind a crime.

An excellent source of information and entertainment, "Soco" continues to be one of the most watched current affairs programs in the channel.

One big factor of the show's success is anchor Gus Abelgas, who has made a niche in the industry as a topnotch investigative and crime reporter.

Don't miss the much-anticipated anniversary special of "Soco" this Thursday on ABS-CBN 2. (Press release)
