Jake back to work after illness

ACTOR Jake Cuenca has got back to work after almost a week in the hospital due to typhoid fever.

Although he visibly loss weight, Jake looked brusquer with his new look (army-cut hairdo). He appeared at the set of the shooting of his new TV series "Tayong Dalawa" Wednesday.

"I am so excited to shoot for this series," he said. "When I was at the hospital, all I wanted was to recover speedily so I could get back to work. But then again, I am also thankful to ABS that they also gave me time to rest and so I am here now ready to work again."

According to Jake, he was advised to suspend his diet first, eat a lot and continue his workout to regain the weight that he loss.

Jake will be playing the brother of Gerald Anderson in the series "Tayong Dalawa." Like Gerald, he is also a military cadet in the series who will fall in love with the character of Kim Chiu.

"It is a story of conflict with family, tension between two brothers, a love triangle and any problem that has to do with the family," he shared.

Jake considered this soap as the "most challenging project" that he has ever done. "I have done something complicated and at the same time this is the first time I have done something that really required me to commit myself and skin my character."

He added that he is also challenged with his role as an army cadet. "We did everything. We immersed ourselves into a real character of a cadet. We have to be like real soldiers. We ate like them, we slept like them, we marched like them, and we fought like them."

Meanwhile, many have been buzzing about his kissing scene with Kim in the series. Asked what has Gerald has to say about it, he said, "Gerald and I are like brothers. We are all working here, we are actors and our job is to act and that was a scene so we had to do it. I know he understands it also."

"Tayong Dalawa" will be shown early next year over ABS-CBN. It is helmed by highly-acclaimed director Ruel Bayani.
