“I don’t know when I will be ready,” Candy said when asked if she is willing to accept a new man in her life.
She said it will be hard for her to tell if someone is sincere and honest and for her to open her heart again. “Only time can tell. I cannot predict.”
“I have suitors but I will not rush things because the last time I was in a hurry, I stumbled,” Candy said.
After Candy gave birth to her child, she was left by her husband, whom she had an affair for eight years. She is now solely raising her five-year-old “special” son.
Despite heavy responsibility, “giving up” is not in Candy’s vocabulary. “My son is okay. We have a good therapist around because my son is a special child so there are good therapists around, good doctors so he is improving a lot,” she said.
“I get tired sometimes yet (being a mom) is fulfilling. It’s sad at times but at the same time I considered it (having my son) as a blessing,” she added.
Until now, Candy said it is still not clear to her why her husband suddenly left them.
“Ang paalam niya sa akin maggo-golf lang siya tapos hindi na siya bumalik. Kung may chance ka tingnan, tingnan mo baka kalaban niya si Tigerwoods (He told me he is going to play golf and that’s it, he never came back. If you have a chance to check, can you check please he might be playing with Tigerwoods already),” Candy jokingly said.
2009 plans
Candy will still be visible on television this year. She is presently doing a cameo role in “I Love Betty La Fea.”
She is also part of ABS-CBN’s upcoming TV series titled “Humiling Ako sa Langit” and three-minute flick in GMA-7’s dubbed “Camera Café.”
Candy hopes to stay in showbiz for many years. “I enjoy my work so much. I don’t look at it as work I look at it as craft because ever since I love what I am doing. It’s my passion,” she said. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
