Monday, January 12, 2009 ‘Love Me Again’ is most hard, sensual film for Direk Rory By Jill Beltran
HIGHLY-regarded local director Rory Quintos said that among all the films she has helmed, Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin’s movie “Love Me Again” is the “most difficult” to do and contained “most sensual” love scenes.
Rory, who is acclaimed through her Star Cinema’s masterpieces “Anak” and “Dubai,” said filming “Love Me Again” was “10 times harder” than the 10 films she had done for Star Cinema before.
“This is the most difficult film I have ever done,” she said. “In Bukidnon (where half of the film was shot), we were hampered by rains. Our shooting, supposedly for 20 days, was extended for 30 days and we were obliged to shoot early in the morning to avoid the rain usually pours in the afternoon.”
“In Australia (where other half of the film was shot), we only had three crew members with us. I asked my actors to be part of the crew, they carried equipment and all. It was a very outback shooting,” she said.
“The nearest grocery store was three hours away. We got to the point when we were eating expired bread and stuff… Until the Filipino community there found us,” she recounted further.
Aside from uncontrolled hitch and limited resources, another dilemma Rory had faced were horseback riding scenes of her two protagonists.
Piolo and Angel play cowboys in the movie so they had to acquaint themselves with the cowboy's life - living around horses and mustering herd of cattle.
“We cannot control the moods of horses. So my greatest fear was having incidents like my actors fall from the horses because it would definitely my responsibility. Fortunately, Angel and Piolo are both athletic and they understand,” she said.
Throughout the taping, Angel and Piolo met minor accidents. Angel fell thrice from her horse while Piolo was hurled twice.
Most sensual film
Aside from being the most difficult, Direk Rory also said “Love Me Again's” love scenes were the “most sensual” of all.
“Very sensual,” she said. She, however, lamented that she felt bad with Star Cinema's trimming down some parts of Angel and Piolo’s love scene in a horse stable.
“With all humility, among the movies I have done this is the love scene that I am very proud of. So I was felt very bad that it was edited down but I cannot do anything about it,” she said.
“Star Cinema said it was ‘too acrobatic.’ The scene was shot in shadows to make it different and it was very sensual. They said it will not pass MTRCB so they cut it. I was expecting that people would be more mature that they appreciate the art and not the act of the whole thing, but nonetheless I have no problem with the producer’s decision,” she said.
Angel and Piolo, meanwhile, said they had prepared themselves for the scene and do not think they were too much because they trust the acumen of their director.
