Dela Paz to appeal expulsion from Valley golf club

BUSINESSMAN Delfin dela Paz will appeal the decision of the Valley Golf and Country Club expelling him from the golf course in connection with the alleged mauling incident last month with the sons and bodyguards of Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman Sr.

Raymond Fortun, lawyer for dela Paz, said his client will appeal the ruling which he called as “harsh.”

“The decision is too harsh, and is founded on erroneous facts, perjured statements, and twisted logic. The dela Paz family will seek for a reconsideration of the decision,” he said.

The trader was expelled for disorderly conduct in instigating the brawl. His children Bambee and Bino were also banned from playing in the club.

Secretary Pangandaman was suspended for two years while his sons Hussein and Nasser Jr., the mayor of Masiu, Lanao del Sur, were banned from the golf course.

Pangandaman Sr. was suspended only because he was not directly involved in the brawl though, he was deemed accountable for the disorderly conduct of his guests resulting in his suspension.

The case stemmed from a melee between the two camps last December that resulted in the filing of charges and counter-charges against each other before the Antipolo Prosecutor’s Office. (AH/Sunnex)
