Sunstar.com.ph among Pinoy buyers' top sites
|
The Sun.Star Network website made it to the top five of local website destinations of Filipino online shoppers.
The Sun.Star Network website at www.sunstar.com.ph tied with Philstar.com for fourth place in the latest Digital Filipino survey of Filipino online buying habits.
Inq7.net remains to be Filipinos' favorite shopping site locally as it topped the local site survey, followed by Yehey.com, then PinoyCentral.com. ABS-CBN.com placed fifth in the list. The Sun.Star website contains a large listing of classified advertisements on real estate, equipment, vehicles and other items.
The survey noted a surge in Filipino online buyers surfing international sites - Yahoo.com, Google.com, and CNN.com. Overall, two local sites joined the top list, with Inq7.net in third place and Yehey.com in fifth.
The study noted a large number of males among Filipino online buyers, comprising 76% in the total number of shoppers among Internet users.
Among Internet Service Providers most online buyers subscribe to, Pacific Internet continues to lead, followed by PLDT DSL, then Infocom, Mozcom, and I-Manila. DigitelOne got dropped out from the previous top 5 ranking ISPs.
The study also noted that it is too early to tell whether there is a decline in the online shopping habits of Filipinos. The study did note a similar pattern of online shopping habits with those of last years' (1999-2000).
Books were the top sellers, followed by computer softwares, domain names, web hosting, travel services, computer hardware, music CDs, apparels, movies, and other information services.
Filipinos have already spent US$64,000 in online shopping from year 1999 to the present. Those buying from Amazon.com spend an average of US$162 per year.
With a lot of what's going now in the Internet opening to more business opportunities, online merchants are advised to get to know their targets' needs, interests, and inclinations as these are all vital in attracting their customers' attention.
