After new cars, Davao dads want Nokia 7650
DAVAO -- After providing themselves with new luxury cars, either an Isuzu Crosswind or Ford Ranger 4x4 pick-up, Davao City councilors now want their communications equipment upgraded and they are not settling for other than the best in the market.
To keep abreast with modern technology, members of the City Council want to get Nokia 7650 units, a highly sophisticated cellular model now only used by top government officials and big businessmen.
A 7650 has a built-in digital camera and features a big screen color display. It can also send and receive photo messages. A unit costs more than P20,000.
Councilors expressed their desire to procure the cellular phone unit during a meeting called for by Vice Mayor Luis C. Bonguyan at The Royal Mandaya Hotel Tuesday afternoon.
"I'm interested. I want a new one," Councilor Nilo Abellera said.
Abellera said Globe offered the councilors 7650 units and that several seemed responsive.
He said the law provides that city officials can get their own communication equipment.
And if ever the city decides to buy the unit for the councilors, the cost can be charged against their allowances.
Another councilor, Emmanuel D. Galicia, said he was not interested in availing of a Nokia 7650.
Galicia said he was content with his Nokia 5210.
Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte is set to buy the Ford Ranger 4x4 pickups he promised the councilors.
Added Abellera, "We are still waiting for the office of the city mayor to release the money intended for the purchase of these vehicles." Sun.Star Davao |
