P29M fire damages Davao hotel
By Aurea A. Gerundio

DAVAO -- Pandemonium broke loose when a room of the Hotel Maguindanao along Claro M. Recto Avenue in Davao City caught fire Thursday morning.

According to Alladin Guiomala, certified fire marshal of the Central Fire
Station, the fire started at around 8:30 a.m. at room 204, a stock room on the second floor, which later spread to the seventh floor.

Guiomala said that second and third floors were damaged totally while the fourth to the seventh floor were just partially damaged.

Damage was estimated to be P29 million.

The fire investigators have yet to establish the cause of fire. A fireman was reportedly injured in trying to put off the fire.

However, they are looking into the possibility that the incident was planned as several witnesses said that a male person was seen jumping off the window from room 204.

None of the occupants were injured in the fire. Investigation on the incident is still ongoing. (Sun.Star Davao)
