GENERAL SANTOS -- Officials of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and communist New People's Army (NPA) admitted for the first time Thursday the existence of a tactical alliance between the two largest rebels groups in the country.
Al Hadj Murad, MILF vice chairman for military affairs, and National Democratic Front (NDF)-Mindanao spokesman Jorge Madlos revealed the two groups entered into an alliance in July 1999 but did not give other details about the arrangement.
