City police chief mum on slay of 2 cops By Edwin G. Espejo
GENERAL SANTOS -- General Santos City Police Office Director Jeorge Aquisap said he has ordered an investigation into the killing of two members of the Makar police on Sunday afternoon.
He, however, begged off from commenting on the incident, saying he had just arrived from Davao City and has yet to be apprised about what happened.
Aquisap was referring to last Sunday's shooting incident that left Police Officers Arnulfo Bernardo and Oscar Calsis dead.
The two policemen were reportedly inside the Asia Brewery Inc. compound in Makar Sunday afternoon with a still unnamed salesman of the company.
Residents said they heard several gunshots inside the compound at 3:45 p.m.
Makar police responding to the incident said Calsis was already dead when they arrived at the scene.
They rushed Bernardo to the General Santos Doctors Hospital but he died several hours after.
Investigators said Calsis sustained gunshot wounds on his head and different parts of his body.
Bernardo was shot in the abdomen and lower left ear.
Attending physicians, however, failed to revive the policeman.
Police arrested Jessie Pabiona, a security guard of Asia Brewery Inc., after the shooting incident.
Pabiona is now confined in a local hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound on his left arm.
Pabiona's fellow guard, a certain Danilo Bibiloni, reportedly managed to escape and is believed to have gone into hiding.
Police are now tracking down Bibiloni, a former enlisted man of the Army, who reportedly left for Davao after the shooting incident.
Makar police station head Insp. Rogelio Abran likewise declined to comment, saying he is under strict instructions not to give any statement to the press.
"Kritikal. Kasi, mga police ang involved," was all he said. (It's critical. Policemen were involved.)
Sources said Bibiloni and the slain policemen wrestled for their guns after arguing with each other.
Bibiloni is believed to have fled to Davao City.
Abran already sent several of his men to Davao City to track down the suspect.
