4 missing after motorboat overturns off Malapascua island in Cebu (10:16 am)
CEBU -- Four people were missing after their motorboat overturned off the Cebu, the Coast Guard reported Thursday.
The boat, carrying a resort owner, his wife, five companions and a cargo of cement, overturned after being hit by strong waves near Malapascua island late Wednesday, Petty Officer Ernesto Suntisidad of the coast guard said.
Three of the passengers were able to cling to the sides of the overturned boat and were rescued by another boat but the resort owner, his wife and two others could not be found, the coast guard said.
Search operations have been hampered by strong waves and poor visibility, the Coast Guard added. AFP
