19 in cargo ship sinking plucked to safety (12:38 p.m.)
MANILA -- All 19 crewmembers were rescued Monday after their small cargo ship sank in rough waters in the central Philippines, the coastguard said here.
Three of the crew were injured as the locally-flagged Dona Trinidad went down off Caticlan on Panay island, about 300 kilometers (186 miles) south of Manila, coastguard spokesmen here said.
The vessel carried cement from Cebu and was en route to Mindoro, north of Panay, when disaster struck. (AFP) |
