6 dead, 15 injured in Davao accident
DAVAO CITY -- Six people died while 15 others were injured when the truck conveying them home from Daliaon plantation, Toril, Davao City, lost its brake and crashed into a hill Friday afternoon.
The victims are reportedly workers at Illuminada farms in Daliaon.
The truck, bearing plate number GLA-854, was on its way to deliver chicken manure to the farm.
Dead are Michael Inson, 16, Jerry Lloyd Mejos, 17, Elmar Garde, 17, Gaudencio Vernez, 42 and son Jayson, 17, and Randy Polvurosa, 17, all of Sitio Bago Saka, Barangay Bago Gallera, Talomo District.
The bodies were brought to the St. John Hospital in Toril, except for Polvurosa's body, which was brought to the Davao Medical Center (DMC).
Police report revealed the minors died when they jumped off the truck and slammed into boulders or were staked by jutting pieces of wood instead.
Meanwhile, still recuperating at the DMC are Louie Calimot, 17, Vernel Layson, 16, Victor Vales, 46, Manuel Barbanida, 20, Jiouanie Alcala, 24, Natahaniel Inson, 13, Alfred Barbanida, 16, Noel Polvurosa, 19, Wilmar Barbanida, 18, Romeo Sumalinog, 17, Rodolfo Moreno, 34, Besinardo Alcala, 19, Felixberto Polvurosa, 16, Francisco Barbanida, 38 and the driver of the truck, Apolinario Agapito, 44.
