Two dead, one injured in plane crash (5:43 p.m.)
CEBU -- A light plane dropping election pamphlets crashed into a tree in the central Philippines Wednesday, killing two people and injuring one other, aviation officials said.
The four-seater Cessna took off from Cebu city's Mactan airport and slammed into a tree while flying over a residential area to drop campaign materials for a local politician.
Its pilot and lone passenger were killed, while an aircraft mechanic on board was seriously injured, Air Transportation Office authorities said.
The Philippines is holding national elections on May 10. (AFP) |
