Reds won't free 2 soldiers unless Somo takes effect (12:35 pm)

MANILA -- The New People's Army (NPA) will not release two soldiers being held captive since last March unless the government suspends military operations in Camarines.

Lt. Ronaldo Fidelino and Pfc. Ronel Nemeņo have been held hostage by the Romulo Jallores Command, a unit of the NPA, in Camarines area.

The police earlier rejected the demand of the communist rebels for a suspension of military operations (Somo). Sunnex Luzon
