Nayan's release fans hope for Tarongoy's return By Aurea A. Gerundio
DAVAO CITY -- The parents of abducted Dabawenyo accountant Robert Teodore "Bobby" Tarongoy are heartened by the news of junior diplomat Angelito Nayan's release from captivity in Afghanistan.
They are hopeful that Bobby will be released soon as well by his Iraqi abductors.
Tomas, Bobby's father, appealed to the Arroyo government not to give up the fight to save his son.
Tomas said they were cheered by the news that Department of Foreign Affairs undersecretary Rafael Seguis was able to hear the voice of Bobby already.
Earlier reports showed the Tarongoys were worried about the condition of Bobby, as they do not have yet any proof he was still alive.
The Tarongoys were, in fact, afraid especially over earlier reports that Bobby's abductors set a deadline for his employer in Saudi Arabia to pay the $10 million ransom the Iraqi militants were demanding in exchange for Bobby's freedom.
Since November 1, the day when Bobby was abducted, daily prayers at the Tarongoy residence at the San Pedro Memorial Park compound continue, as the family awaits news from his Iraqi abductors.
