British artist, ex-dad nabbed for 'hot' guns By Ernie N. Olson Jr.
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad -- A known British artist who has been residing here for the past 25 years was arrested over the weekend for alleged illegal possession of a machinegun recovered from his residence in Tuba almost two months ago.
His arrest was followed by that of a former Lamut town councilor, who was also found in alleged possession of an unlicensed pistol in Ifugao.
Chief Supt. Rowland Albano, director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in the Cordillera, identified the British national as Peter Pinder, 50, a resident of Sitio Pacac, Tadiangan, Tuba, Benguet.
Police arrested Pinder based on a warrant of arrest issued by La Trinidad Regional Trial Court Branch 62 Judge Fernando Cabato, for alleged violation of Republic Act 8294 or illegal possession of a firearm.
Pinder was committed to the Tuba Municipal Jail.
Sun.Star reported earlier that a cal. 30 light machinegun bearing serial number 2620 was seized by a Benguet police team from Pinder's residence around 10:30 a.m. of October 8.
This seizure was an offshoot of the implementation of a search warrant issued by Judge Benigno Galacgac of La Trinidad RTC Branch 63.
At the time of the search, witnessed by Tadiangan barangay chief Zaldy Guileng, Pinder was not at home.
In Ifugao, a cal. 45 pistol bearing serial number 2264707 and loaded with an ammunition magazine was nabbed from former Lamut councilor Joseph Guinid In-uyay, 45, married, a resident of Poblacion East, Lamut, Ifugao, by a team from the Ifugao Provincial Police Office around 6 p.m. of December 3.
The arrested former official was put under investigation prior to the subsequent filing of case against him for his alleged violation of Republic Act 8294 before the Ifugao Provincial Prosecutor's Office.
