Rescuers found storm survivors inside collapsed building (10:50 a.m.)

MANILA -- At least four survivors were pulled out of a building that collapsed ten days ago in Barangay Tignoan, Real, Quezon, radio reports said.

Rescue workers, who were drilling the basement of the collapsed building, heard voices of women.

The report said that one of the survivors who was pulled out said some 20 people, including children are still alive under the collapsed structure.

The town of Real and its neighboring towns were badly hit by flashfloods and landslides, which caused the roof of the building to cave in at the height of typhoon Winnie.

Around 100 people, who used the building as their evacuation center, were trapped inside.

Rescuers earlier recovered 25 bodies from the site. Rescuers include volunteers from the Philex, Lepanto and Benguet Mining.

Miners said logs and large rocks hindered rescue operations. (Sunnex)
