Poe hangs on (2:11 p.m.)

MANILA -- Opposition Representative Francis Escudero of Sorsogon denied rumors Monday that Fernando Poe Jr. is on a life support system at the St. Luke's Medical Center, adding that the former presidential candidate is fighting for his life.

Escudero however could not say as of this time if there is a big chance for Poe to recover.

He said Poe's personal physician, Anastacio Aquino told him that Poe's heartbeat is strong compared to others who have lapsed into a coma after suffering a stroke.

Escudero reiterated his call for prayers for Poe's swift recovery.

The congressman asked Poe's supporters not to converge in the hospital compound or outside in order not to disturb other patients and cause traffic near the hospital. (JFF)
