Sandigan gives Estrada 24-hour pass to visit Poe's wake (11:05 a.m.)

MANILA -- Sandiganbayan allowed on Thursday former president Joseph Estrada to visit the wake of his best friend, Fernando Poe Jr., in Sto, Domingo Church on Tuesday.

The anti-graft court granted Estrada a 24-hour pass, which will start at 9 a.m. of Dec 21 until the funeral mass of Poe on Dec. 22.

The court's order is in response to Estrada's petition filed on Tuesday requesting permission to leave Camp Capinpin, in Tanay, Rizal, where he is presently detained to visit his mother and Poe's wake.

The court however, refused to allow Estrada to attend the burial rites of Poe at the North Cemetery for security reasons.

The prosecution said it will going to be a security nightmare if Estrada will be allowed to attend the burial rites especially with the rumored stabilization plots.

In the court's order, Estrada will leave Camp Capinpin at 9 a.m. of Dec. 21, to visit his mother at Greenhills in San Juan, and from there he will go to Sto. Domingo Church for Poe's wake and funeral mass the next day. (MVG/Sunnex)
