'Balikbayan' tags cop in P1.5M robbery
LABRADOR -- The Municipal Police Office will file robbery charges against a policeman for his alleged involvement in the P1.5 million robbery incident in Barangay Tubuan last December 28.
Municipal Police Chief Ferdinand "Bingo" de Asis identified the policeman as PO1 Larry Tuazon, assigned at the Regional Police Office based in San Fernando, La Union.
Tuazon was pinpointed during police investigation by the victim Aira Jeba, a native of this town who had just arrived from Japan, as one of the five men who allegedly robbed her.
"We are still conducting follow-up operations to know who are the cohorts of Tuazon in the robbery-holdup," de Asis said.
The police chief said they are coordinating with the Regional Police Office on the case of Tuazon.
Jeba said at the airport, she exchanged first her Japanese money for Philippine currency amounting P2.5 million before finally heading for home.
She said she divided the money and put it separately in two bags.
She held one bag while her companion held the other one.
She said they were about to open the gate of her house when five men, armed with high-powered firearms, held them up
The robbers, after taking the victim's money, ordered the occupants of the Vista van to alight and commandeered the vehicle.
Police authorities said the van was later recovered near the house of former mayor Louie Agbayani. (FPM)
