Juice factory ordered closed for illegal operation (3:50 p.m.)
By Aurea A. Gerundio

DAVAO CITY -- The newly created inter-agency Task Force on Public Safety has swooped down on a juice factory found operating illegally and posing danger to both its workers and neighbors.

The Unicorn Food Corporation factory in Paciano Bangoy was supposed to have already been closed last year but it was found out to be still operating.

The task force has recommended for its immediate closure.

"The building is a fire hazard, walang compliance ang management for the electrical permit, walang proper sanitation ang area at walang business permit," Barangay and Cultural Communities Affairs Division chief and Task Force secretariat Renante M. Matobato said.

Matobato said the Task Force received a call from barangay captain Jovito Salazar about a questionable establishment in their barangay, resulting to the inspection.

During the inspection, it was found out that the establishment violated various regulatory laws including the Building Code, Fire Code, Tax Code and the Sanitation Code.
