Clash erupts between communist rebels, soldiers (10:54 p.m.)

MANILA -- An encounter between military troops and members of the New People's Army (NPA) has occurred in Calatagan town in Batangas province, south of Manila.

Two persons believed to be communist insurgents were killed in the clash.

The incident comes as the military is also battling Moro rebels loyal to detained former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm) Governor Nur Misuari in Jolo. (Sunnex Luzon)
