MANILA -- Negotiations for the surrender of Abu Sayyaf inmates holed up in the prison building of Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig bogged down after police authorities got irritated over the changing demands of the prisoners.

The stand-off in the prison center continued as of 8 p.m. Monday.

Police authorities were irked by the latest demand of the Abu detainees for a dinner.

The Abu prisoners earlier agreed to surrender to negotiators Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (Armm) Governor Parouk Hussin and Anak ng Mindanao party-list Representative Mujiv Hataman, provided they would be given media access. They wanted to be allowed to hold a press conference inside the jail.

They said their rights should be respected. They also asked for speedy and fair trial to the charge sof murder and kidnapping filed against them. (Sunnex Luzon/JFF)
