General Santos 'bomber' facing raps in Davao

DAVAO CITY -- Police in Sarangani Province arrested a suspect in the December 12 bombing of a public market in General Santos City, Saturday, with the aid of an arrest warrant issued by a Davao City court.

Andy Budiang of Purok 4 in Glan, Sarangani Province was arrested at home, Superintendent Efren Valeriano, Sarangani police chief, said.

The arrest was executed after the Sarangani police got a copy of the warrant of arrest issued against Budiang by a Davao City court for multiple murder and frustrated murder charges.

Budiang, however, still have to be sued for his alleged role in the public market bombing in General Santos last year.

"We already turned him over to General Santos City Police Office for tactical interrogation. It's up to the city police to file the necessary charges after a tactical interrogation," Valeriano said.

Valeriano said that aside from being a suspect in the General Santos bombing, Budiang is also a suspect in various cases of sea piracy, highway robbery, and other crimes in Sarangani. (AZ)
