2 killed, 26 injured in road accident

ILOILO CITY -- Two persons were killed while 26 others were injured when a multi-cab collided with a jeepney along the highway of Barangay Inagdangan Sur in Zarraga, Iloilo Province at around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Killed were Armando Ibañez and Alson Dionson, both residents of Bacolod City and employees of a company selling pito-pito herbal products.

Ibañez, driver of the multi-cab, died on the spot while Dionson died at the West Visayas State University in Iloilo City at 4:10 p.m.

Those injured, including driver of the jeepney plying the Mina-Pototan route, were treated at a hospital in Pototan.

Police Officer 3 Saludares of Zarraga Police Station said the jeepney was on its way to Pototan when the accident happened.

Ibañez and Dionson, who came from Dumangas, were headed for Iloilo City.

Saludares said Ibañez overtook another vehicle and then collided head on with the passenger jeepney.
