Vigilantes kill 2 'gang members' By Joy G. Romares
DAVAO CITY -- After a day of rest, vigilante killings continued, victimizing in separate incidents two men who were reportedly members of a gang, in Buhangin and Sasa, Davao City, on Wednesday night.
The 76th and 77th victim in the unsolved spate of killings are Jaworski Tan alias Intsik, 22, jobless, and resident of Bayview, Kilometer 11, Sasa, and one Fernando Zamora, 25, jobless, of Bread Village, Buhangin.
Senior Police Officer 1 Alfredo Heliane, of the Sasa police station, said the incident happened at 5:30 p.m. while Tan was at Liezel store with his two friends Jerson Espinosa and one Noli Olandria alias Lisdok, both residents of San Juan in Tibungco, when two men approached and shot Tan several times.
Tan succumbed to gunshot wounds in his head, chest, and shoulder. Recovered at the crime scene were two empty shells of a caliber .45 pistol.
"May info from a reliable source na involve siya sa mga kawat ug user-pusher ingon man gang member sab daw ang biktima pero wala pa namo nakumpirma," Heliane said. (A reliable source informed us that the victim was involved in robbery, was a user-pusher and a gang member, but we haven't yet confirmed the information.)
Heliane added he was able to talk with Olandria, but the latter said he did not see the face of the suspect because the incident happened so fast.
Two hours later, while Zamora was having a drinking spree inside the house of his "kumpare" named Jolito Ralius in Kilometer 7, Tigatto, two unidentified motorcycle-riding men arrived. One of them barged inside the house and shot Zamora in the head and body.
The suspects sped off after the incident, while Zamora was brought by Ralius to the Davao Medical Center for treatment.
Zamora did not make it and died a few hours later in the hospital.
The incidents followed the killing of Virgilio Escobar alias Jaguar in Bankerohan, where Escobar's girlfriend named Genalyn Bitangcol was hit with a stray bullet.
Police said Escobar had been in and out of the San Pedro police precinct for theft cases.
Escobar has also a pending case of homicide in court, police added.
