Millions worth of shabu seized in Oro shabu lab (8:25 p.m.) By Joey Nacalaban
CAGAYAN DE ORO -- Millions worth of shabu products, chemicals and manufacturing equipment were seized in a raid Monday on a warehouse in Barangay Cugman this city, police said.
Joint operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in regions 10 and 11 raided the warehouse around 9: 45 a.m. and recovered boxes of shabu finished product estimated to value millions of pesos, PDEA-10 chief Rene Orbe said.
PDEA operatives conducted an inventory of the shabu finished product and scouring the warehouse for other chemicals used in manufacturing shabu.
The raid was made by virtue to a search warrant issued by Municipal Trial Court Judge Eleuteria Badoles-Algudon. The warehouse, registered under the name of a businessman, was rented by a certain Johnson Chua alias Greg Sia, David Sy and Juan Tan.
Orbe said none of the suspects were arrested when the raid was conducted. He said they will summon the businessman to shed light on the matter.
He added they are still investigating on Chua's nationality. He added that local Chinese-Filipinos are involved in the illegal drug operation.
The raid, Orbe said, is a result of the raids in Alubihib and Opol, Misamis Oriental in December 2004.
Cagayan de Oro Mayor Vicente Emano who was present during the raid said the suspects were the same persons involved in the Misamis Oriental laboratories and the one in Davao City.
Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte was supposed to join the raiding team but failed to make it due bad weather in Davao City. (With Sunnex)
