School offers job, scholarship to ex-hostage
By Aurea A. Gerundio

DAVAO CITY -- A computer college in Davao City has offered a scholarship and a job to Robert "Bobby" Tarongoy, the overseas Filipino worker who was freed just recently by his Iraqi captors after almost eight months.

School director Ernesto Raphael V. Robillo Friday said they are giving Tarongoy a full scholarship in any member institution of the AMA Computer College (ACC), including the AMA Computer Learning Center (ACLC), ABE, and Saint Augustine's School of Nursing.

"If he will not avail of the scholarship, then he can assign it to any of his immediate family," Robillo said.

On the job offer, Robillo said Tarongoy can choose where he would like to be assigned in any ACC member institution.

"If he wants to go back to Bahrain, then we can also hire him at the AMA Computer College in Bahrain. Since he finished a course in accounting, pwede siya sa administration," Robillo said.

Robillo said the ACC is offering Tarongoy a scholarship and a job because they wanted to help him recover from the catastrophe he experienced in Iraq.

"AMA Computer College has been giving scholarships na rin. In fact, we are giving 50 percent discounts on all fees for new enrollees and old students who were not able to enroll because of financial constraints. Maybe, Chairman Aguiluz (Amable V) saw it fit to help Bobby," Robillo said.

Robillo said Tarongoy was already informed about the offer of the ACC but there is no confirmation yet whether he has accepted it. (Sun.Star Davao/Sunnex)
