Catholic educators to discuss position on audio tape recordings (12:45 p.m.)

MEMBERS of the Catholic Educators Association of the Philippines (CEAP) will meet on Thursday to discuss their position on the audio tape recordings involving President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and a former election official.

Monsignor Gerardo Santos clarified the CEAP has not made any decision yet on the audio tape recordings.

Santos said the statement made by their brothers of De La Salle University (DLSU) was their stand and they respect them for that.

In the meeting the group will listen to the research center’s study on the questioned audio tape recordings.

He said they have also invited moral theologians to speak on the ethical and moral dimension of such an issue.

They will also discuss the options available for them as educators.

DLSU earlier said the president’s resignation would prevent the country from being dragged down with the present problems faced by the latter.

Aside from DLSU, the College of Law of the University of the Philippines passed a resolution Friday which was approved by an overwhelming majority of law professors calling for the resignation of Arroyo.(Sunnex)
