Catholic Church starts email campaign for prayers for RP amid crisis (10:08 a.m.)

MANILA --The Catholic Church in the Philippines has launched an email brigade urging Filipinos abroad to offer a few minutes of their time to pray for the country in the midst of its political and economic crises.

Fr. James Reuter of the National Office of Mass Media (Nomm) of the Nunciature said there is an urgent need for prayers because it is obvious that the two bloodless people's uprisings never "made a dent in reversing the trend" of corruption in governance.

"We need a force far greater than our collective efforts as a people can never hope for to muster. It is time to move the battle to the spiritual realm," said Reuter in an email that he sent to his friends abroad.

There are an estimated eight million Filipinos working and living in various parts of the world. (MSN/Sunnex)
